We had a lovely, if a tad chaotic Valentine's Day weekend. We went out to dinner Friday night while Cheryl watched the baby. We had some fantastic steak at Chop House. Their steak special was some sort of baseball steak. Reportedly in the shape of an actual ball. I wish I'd ordered it.
Saturday we hung around the house and exchanged Valentines. I got a new purse from Brian and Brian and Eliza both got DVDs. Eliza loved all of the Valentines she got from the family. Thank you so much, everyone.
Saturday night we attended a party thrown by my life-long friend Heather and her mother. They were honoring the memory of her father who passed away 2/14 last year. It was a lot of fun to see people I hadn't seen in a long time and to get out of the house for a bit. I also had a bite of this amazing Raspberry cake with buttercream icing. I somehow managed to avoid taking more than a bite!
Eliza enjoyed her weekend, too. My nephew is staying with us for a bit, so she likes all the activity of having more people around. She's now attempting to grab everything within arm's reach. She'll grab clothes, a full glass, some other piece of food, something small she shouldn't have in her mouth, or anything that looks fun. She has also taken to grabbing for any cell phone or remote control in the immediate vicinity. She seems to hold them as if she knows exactly what she's supposed to be doing with them. Such an advanced little girl.
We're looking forward to this coming weekend. We plan to celebrate Lee's birthday with all the parents who should be heading up Friday and Saturday.
